: Michael Smith is the founder and President of Smith Strategic Consulting, LLC an Independent Communications consulting firm providing support in leading technologies. Mr. Smith has been in the Communications field for over 40 years, with years at US West (now CenturyLink 18 Years), NIS Consulting (17 years), and now with his own company in September 1, 2024. Mr. Smith focuses on assisting IT, Facilities and Finance departments with design, procurement, and project management in voice, security (Video Surveillance), and 911 solutions.
Mr. Smith has worked with Government and Education clients, providing project management, site and system assessment, and procurement services, which include RFP development, working with staff to ensure the success of every client project.
Mr. Smith has provided video assessment and project management for a major Community College, which is using high-quality video surveillance to meet the needs and direction of its Public Safety department. He has been responsible for the development and project management of multiple VoIP procurement projects for Cities and county organizations in Oregon and Washington. In these engagements, he implemented central office services, 911 solutions, fiber connectivity for multiple office locations, contact center solutions, design and implementation of new client infrastructures, and an EHR system solution for a large Tribal Clinic Organization.
Mr. Smith started is own company called Smith Telecommunications Consulting in 2004 and developed training documents for all Nortel system platforms for technicians in 20004 for Accenture (Avaya technicians) when Avaya bought the Nortel database.
Mr. Smith prides himself on being the client advocate and an extension of their specific department in making sure the project meets all the requirements and is within the budget of every project. Mr. Smith specializes in system assessments, Request for Proposals (RFPs) development/management, voice system design, and E91 system deployments with the City, County, and higher education (Community Colleges, K-12).
Mr. is an active member of his community and has served on the Board of the Washington County Sheriff’s Association, the Budget Committee of the Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue for the past twenty years, the Budget Committee of the West Slope Water District, as a Volunteer of the Washington County Sheriff's Office, and the Beaverton Police Department.
Mr. Smith is currently President and Board Member of the Society of Communications Technology Consultants International (SCTC), which has over 100 members who serve as Independent Consultants and Vendor Advisory Council members throughout the US, Canada, and Internationally. The SCTC has a strict Code of Ethics requires us to meet these high standards and work with our client's best interest on every project.
